What did we do to help?
The St. Louis community nominated The Cornerstone Center for Early Learning for one of our 80 in 80 grants. This organization uses this support to help over 170 families a year and over 200 children throughout the St. Louis area by providing affordable and reliable childcare.
What does The Cornerstone Center for Early Learning do?
The Cornerstone Center provides a safe and educational environment to nurture children’s creativity and healthy development. The center works with children ages 6 weeks to age 5 in early kindergarten. They have a diverse group of children of a variety of ethnicities and a range of income levels. They can work with families on a sliding scale and offer up to 100% tuition assistance for those who qualify.
In addition to providing great facilities, The Cornerstone Center has a dedicated staff with many members having continued their service for 20 and even 30 years. They also offer Headstart certified staff to help with early childhood education. They provide services all year round starting at 6:30 in the morning until 6 p.m. each week Monday through Friday.
The Cornerstone Center funnels their donations into good use and provides meals for the children and baby needs including diapers, wipes and clothes at no extra cost to families. Families can also have health checks for their children including dental exams. A full-time classroom counselor also looks after the children’s social and emotional needs and helps them navigate early childhood development.
Why did we choose to support The Cornerstone Center for Early Learning
Ferguson Roofing’s committee selected The Cornerstone Early Learning Center for a community-nominated grant due to their stellar reputation for quality childcare and their award-winning history for non-profit service to children and families. They earned a treasure trove of awards from many organizations including: the United Way of Greater St. Louis, the Better Business Bureau, Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis, and Y.W.C.A. They also collaborate with some other amazing organizations that span the needs of the children from the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank to St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
We support The Cornerstone Center because of their attention to caring for children through education and family support. They are another remarkable part of the 80 in 80 project that makes our community smarter, healthier and a better place to live.
