What does the Incarnate Word Academy do?

The Incarnate Word Academy (IWA) traces its history back to 1899 when the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word served as nurses at the Missouri Pacific Hospital in St. Louis. As they continued to expand their ministry, they purchased land in 1922 and set the foundation for this esteemed private school for young women.

IWA strives to uphold and impart the values of social justice, human respect, and dignity, to their students. This forward-thinking educational institution readies its students for college and encourages them to participate in public service. They learn to connect to their community while being guided by Christian principles and values.

Grounded in tradition while reaching for innovation, IWA prepares its students to join the workforce ready to use emerging technologies in an ethical and responsible manner.

The IWA also uses mission integration to promote ethical behavior and actions in alignment with their mission’s philosophy. In order to coordinate the trinity of spiritual development, community involvement, and a leading-edge curriculum, IWA publishes their core beliefs and posts them in every building as well as incorporating those core principles into activities for staff and students.

Why did we choose to support The Incarnate Word Academy?

This employee-selected award sprang from a history of cooperation and coordination between business and this highly-regarded educational institution. Connections with a former Ferguson Roofing employee developed into reciprocal partnership in association with Incarnate Word Academy. Our 80 in 80 Project opened another opportunity to support the important mission of IWA.
