What did we do to help?
Ferguson Roofing made a financial contribution to help the Special Education Foundation of St. Louis build a bridge between students with disabilities and the resources they need to succeed in school and in life.
What does the Special Education Foundation of St. Louis do?
The Special Education Foundation of St. Louis (SEF) works to fill the gap between the needs of students requiring special education and limits of tax funded support. SEF became the first public school foundation in Missouri in 1984.
They serve disabled children ages 3 through 21 of the Special School District of St. Louis County. SEF provides additional resources including adaptive equipment, teacher grants, leadership programs, arts for the classroom and summer camps.
The SEF operates solely on donor support and private funding independent of the Special School District of St. Louis County. They receive no support from the United Way or government sources while reaching out to many students and families suffering under financial strain. The SEF makes a significant impact year after year, thus far providing over $240,00 in Student Financial Assistance and helping over 12,000 students in a single year.
Why did we choose to support?
The Ferguson Roofing Community nominated SEF because of their consistent history of helping those in need. With more than 16 percent of student in St. Louis County requiring special education services SEF has been there for more than 36 years helping children with mild to severe disability and those with challenges requiring special education assistance.
By supporting organizations like the Special Education Foundation of St. Louis we help our students, families, schools and community flourish. By reaching out to the underserved and providing opportunities to achieve and succeed we all succeed.
