How did we help?
Volunteers play a central role in the United Way, which supports more than 160 partner agencies by helping people through a wide spectrum of programs ranging from providing food and shelter for families in need to assisting entire communities. Worldwide, the United Way has over 2.8 million volunteers. It can be hard to keep track of them! We sent one of our employees, Erin Gilbert, to help build and expand their volunteer tracking application on the Salesforce platform.
What does the United Way do?
With 43% of households in the St. Louis region lacking the monthly income to meet their basic needs, the United Way provides a broad range of assistance including: food and shelter, foster learning, health education, and countering poverty by developing financial stability. In addition, they provide assistance for those with health conditions, disabilities, and mental illness while promoting diversity and inclusion.
Across the United States, over 431,201 of those served by United Way and its member agencies last year were children. This all-embracing assistance is central to their mission of helping individuals and to strengthen communities.
Why did we choose to support the United Way?
As a co-leader of the St. Louis Salesforce Women in Tech group, Gilbert knew of the United Way’s powerful impact in assisting St. Louis families in need, and that she could help.
“It was amazing to know that I wasn’t just helping one organization with one mission; I was helping to support all of the programs in our community that United Way offers,” said Gilbert.
It’s inspiring to see our employees contribute to the 80 in 80 project. These are the kind of people that are leading the way to developing a culture of giving, volunteering, and helping others here at Ferguson Roofing, out in our community and beyond.
