Backstoppers

Ferguson Roofing is a proud member of the Roofing & Siding Contractors Alliance (RSCA). The RSCA is comprised of contractors, manufacturers and distributors around the Greater St. Louis area with the purpose of promoting ethical relationships and public awareness regarding exterior work on residential homes and businesses. Jason Shupp, co-owner of Ferguson Roofing, is President of the RSCA for 2013-2014.

The RSCA is always looking for ways to give back to the community and one of the charities they support is BackStoppers. BackStoppers is a non-profit organization that supports families of fallen police officers, paramedics/EMTs and firefighters. It was started in 1959 by 11 businessmen. Their goal is to “help the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our safety.” BackStoppers provides financial counseling and on-going monetary assistance for those families.

The RSCA and Ferguson Roofing partnered with the BackStoppers on September 10, 2013 to replace the roof of Alice Jaeger-Ashland’s home. Alice was the wife of Officer Gerald Jaeger, who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in 1964. Alice said, “Your generosity and kindness to the widows of our fallen hero’s cannot be matched by anyone. God bless you and thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

BackStoppers has a yearly fundraiser called Guns and Hoses. Since 1987, local police officers and firemen “throw down” in a three round boxing match with all proceeds going to the cause. RSCA was a proud contributor to this event on November 27, 2013. For more information about the Guns and Hoses event, please click here.
