Ferguson Roofing was a proud contributor to the 2013 Kickin’ Chicken Benefit. This event was to raise money for Kevin Cook, owner of Quality Construction located in Madison County, Illinois. Before opening Quality Construction, Kevin worked for Ferguson Roofing for almost 10 years!
Kevin was diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma cancer early in 2013. It quickly metastasized to his lungs. Although we are all in the same industry and “competitors,” at the end of the day, we are all a part of the local contractor family and we take care of our own. We were happy to donate time, money and a special roofing gun for the Silent Auction.
This event was held on Saturday, May 4th, 2013. Unfortunately, Kevin passed away a few days later. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and co-workers.
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer is the United States. One is five people will be diagnosed with skin cancer. Melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer. A person’s risk for melanoma can double if they have received five or more sunburns over their lifetime. As contractors, our work is largely performed outside and we need to be more careful than most to protect our skin.
